When considering a Whistler purchase, be sure to account for the following additional costs:
- Property Transfer Tax – 1% of the first $200,000.00 of the purchase price and 2% of the balance. First time home buyers may be exempt from this tax.
- Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) – This tax is not always payable, depending on the type of property purchased and how the property will be used. First time purchasers of new residential property may be eligible for a rebate of a portion of the HST. Some purchases of older property may also be exempt. Some purchasers may defer it.
